The problem with keys is usually timing
You've just had a new lock fitted, or maybe you've moved into a place off London Road and realised the previous owner handed back only one key. Someone else in the household needs their own. The cleaner is starting on Monday. It sounds like a five-minute job, but getting it done properly, especially with modern high-security locks, takes a bit more planning than people expect.
Not every locksmith carries key cutting equipment in the van. That's just the reality of the trade. If you ring and ask us to come out purely for a spare key, we'll be straight with you about whether we can do it same-day or whether it makes more sense to schedule it. Ring 01892 575491 and tell us exactly what you need, including the lock brand if you know it, and we'll give you an honest answer there and then.
What happens with restricted keys
If your home or business has a higher-security lock fitted, a Mul-T-Lock, an ABS cylinder or an Ultion, the spare key process is different. These are restricted key systems, which means the blanks aren't sitting on a shelf at any local hardware shop. They have to be ordered through an authorised channel with the correct documentation, and they're cut on a follow-up visit once the blanks arrive.
It takes a little longer. That's the trade-off for having a lock that can't be picked up and copied by anyone who borrows your key for ten minutes. Customers across Southborough, Bidborough and out towards Pembury have found it well worth it once they understand the system.
When we fit a new lock, we include two to five keys depending on the make and model. Need more than that for a larger household or a small business in the High Brooms area? Tell us when you book and we'll make sure the right quantity is ordered from the start.
What it costs and how long it takes
Key cutting for standard locks is straightforward and priced accordingly. We quote labour plus estimated parts plus VAT on the phone before we come out, so you know what you're agreeing to. There's no separate call-out charge buried in the small print.
Restricted keys cost more than standard blanks, and the lead time for ordering them in means same-day isn't possible. We'll tell you the expected turnaround when you call, and we keep things moving as quickly as the supply chain allows.
We've been working across Southborough and the surrounding TN4 area since 2014. We're not here to upsell you keys you don't need. If two will do, we'll say so.
What we cover

- No waiting weeks for restricted keys
